Looking At Your Credit Report

What is the use of your credit reports or history? Bottom line is that these are the records that you need to look into if you want to get an idea of your financial standing. It is not enough that you determine your disposable income in a given month. You need to be thorough when it comes to your finances and your best bet to go about this is your set of credit reports.
Your reports will contain accounts that have been under your social security number. This will include bank accounts, utilities, credit card accounts, loans and even court orders. Each item will either be a positive or a negative which will give you an idea of what your credit score is going to be. When you get your credit report, you may not be able to get your score right away. This will only appear if you requested for it specifically. Unfortunately the way your credit score is computed is too complicated to be done on your own. This is why you may need to satisfy yourself with the items you see on the report. Unfortunately you cannot just go ahead and submit and inquiry for your credit report because a number of consecutive inquiries will also have a negative impact on your score.
It is also advisable to get your records from the 3 major reporting agencies. This is to make sure that you are getting all the items that are tagged under your details. Some companies would only report to one company so getting just one report will not do if you want the whole thing.
The purpose of us getting to know our credit report is that so we can go about finding a way on improving our score. Sadly a recent study showed that a number of Americans are really struggling with their scores. That sadder part is that they have no idea what to do with it. Now the thing is you would have to literally live with the score that you got. Living with the credit score would mean that when you apply for a loan, your interest rates will be based on how good (or bad) your credit score is. This may not mean a lot to you but this can actually spell thousands of dollars in difference if you have a better score. If you want to improve this then you can opt for credit repair. This will allow you to dispute negative items in your account. This way you can have them removed for a better score. Unfortunately this cannot be done overnight. You would have to invest time and money for this. All in all, this is one of the ways on how your credit report can affect you. This time around you may look at your report a bit more differently.

Deciding when to get a Lawyer

A lot of people may actually have apprehensions when it comes to hiring lawyers to help them with their traffic tickets. A lot of people may actually be too scared to take on the expertise of a lawyer so it would be best to actually make sure that you are able to find the line when you will be getting a lawyer:

DUI
This is a definite reason when you would actually be better off hiring a lawyer. States do not really take this type of offense lightly. You can then expect more than just fines. You are going to have to prepare yourself for serious reprimands and this will likely include having your license suspended. It would be best to have your lawyer do the talking and thinking for you.

Parking Tickets
It would be best to let this slide. There are times when you are not able to really notice the no parking sign most especially if you are not really familiar with the place. You can give your lawyer a rest on this one and it would be best to just pay the parking ticket to get it over with.

Overspeeding
This is actually still a bit relative. There are times when you can let a speeding ticket slide when you think you can just pay the ticket and get it over with. On the other hand if you are caught speeding in a freeway then this may be something else. You may have to pay a bigger amount at this point and if you can consult with your lawyer if you have any other options other than to pay for the ticket then feel free to do so.

Road accidents
You may not be at fault here but the other party may be playing hardball to make an effort to get away from having it taken against their insurance. This is certainly where the experience of the traffic lawyer can come in. If you happen to get one who had a rich history on this then you can use this to your advantage.

Restricted license
You may be able to process this on your own though some states may have to require you to take this to court so it would be better off to get a traffic lawyer. This is the license that you would have to process that you can use when you got your license suspended.

How To Really Review For The DMV Written Test

The efforts that you would need to exert in order to pass the dreaded written DMV exam is really something that you would have to go beyond reading the material that is given to you when you get your learner’s permit. Don’t get me wrong, you will be able to get all the information that you need when you take the exam right from the driver’s manual. Your problem is actually being able to digest the whole thing. Do not forget that the passing rate is 85%. This is a steep score to reach most especially if you had not prepared properly.
It would be up to you to come up with a way wherein you will be able to review and really prepare yourself for the test. Some people have made the mistake of not taking this test seriously which then is the reason why they flunk and they had to take the test again. This should not be the case since you should be able to find a way wherein you will be able to get all the things prepared when you review for the test. Think of it as a small cheat sheet. If you are hardworking enough to prepare your cheat sheet then you should be able to make it through the DMV written test on the first attempt.
It would be best to find your weakness and this is only possible if you will be able to do this is to do the practice tests. I would not recommend using the ones that you would find in bookstores. The reason being is that you can only take each test on that booklet once. Taking them again will be like kidding yourself. I would then recommend taking the practice tests that is offered online. There are free ones but I found them a bit weak for the purpose of reviewing oneself. You can opt for the paid ones and each time you take the test it is going to be different. Some sites would even offer some sort of statistical data that would help you determine which part of the test you are the weakest.
After you had done this you can then prepare your cheat sheet in a way where you can review smidgets of your weak points so you can take the exam again and see how much work you need to do to really secure your chance of passing the test.

Getting your first car

First cars can be intimidating since there are a lot of firsts that would come along after this. This is why this is a very important experience not to mention that this is an investment that we need to protect. It is all the same reason why we need to do things right. We have to make sure that the first car that is acquired will be able to serve its purpose and not to mention give you value for the money you had spent for it.
Now if you are lucky enough to land a brand new car as your first car then you don’t really have to worry much about the after sales scenario. The hard part is actually choosing which car to choose. All in all you would still have to do some research so you will be able to pick the right car both for your need and your budget. It is not really advisable to get an expensive car as your first car. As mentioned, there are a lot of first and most of it will be learned while making use of the car. Now the challenge arises for those who would have to settle for a second hand car. This is actually the perfect choice for a first car however you would have to work hard to find one that is really going to serve your purpose and would allow you to develop the habits of owning a car without giving you any problems.
The first thing you would have to do is to find a car that you need (not want but if you would be able to describe the car as both then that would be good). Consider all the important factors that would constitute an ideal car for you. I would strongly suggest that you do not opt for a car that is too old. As much as possible set the limit at around 5 years. The reason being is that cars tend to develop certain problems that would then involve you having to take your car in a shop on a regular basis.
After you had decided on the car you can then start with the hunt for the seller. You have to make sure that the seller will be transparent in terms of showing you the details of the vehicle history. If the price on the ad is too cheap then you better ask the question why? On the other hand if you happen to find a car that you can trust then you can then proceed with the sale. As a first time buyer, it would be important that you know what would be expected of you (as the buyer) and the seller. The required documents for the selling of a second hand car may vary per state but there are two things that you ought to look into as the buyer; the vehicle history records and the bill of sale.

The vehicle history record is what was mentioned a sure way for you to find out how the vehicle was maintained by the original owner which would then give you an idea of the condition of the vehicle. The bill of sale is to make sure that the details of the sale are put into paper. There are of course a lot of different formats of how the bill of sale is set but if your state has a specific pattern that you need to follow then you have to make sure that you do so. Some states would even honor this as the ownership document when notarized. You can then just set this aside as reference for later. Thoughtful Advice: check out some important guides that you should consider before and after getting your first car: http://www.dmv.com/beginner-drivers

Issues with your Vehicle Registration

When it comes to registrations, it is relatively easy nowadays considering that it can already be done online. Now the thing is that there are also some issues regarding registrations as well as titling that needs to be dealt with. The steps for each state are going to be different but here are the ones you can expect to deal with regardless of which state you are in:

Name and/or Address changes

It is true that you would have to deal with this with all the other accounts that you have but in case you are not aware, you are going to need to do this for your registration as well. You are going to need to download a form which will allow you to make the necessary changes. If your local DMV offers it online then you may be able to download the said form and submit it depending on how your local DMV requires you to. You may need to submit it personally, via mail or if you are lucky… via email.

Duplicates

We all need to make sure that we are able to keep the necessary documents to prove that the vehicle we are using is legally allowed by the state to be on the road. We should be able to keep it in the vehicle in case we pulled over but there are times when these documents get lost or due to wear and tear, needs to be replaced. All you have to do is to acquire the forms needed for the request and make the necessary payments. It would be best to visit your local DMV site and see if you can do it without leaving the comforts of your own home.

Title Transfers

This is one process that needs to be done in case the car that we have been using has been sold to another owner. One important reason you need to know what you really have to relieve your name from the ownership of a car that you are no longer driving is because you might end up getting tickets from violations committed in the car registered to you.

Emission testing

This is one huge requirement that needs to be fulfilled when you have a registered vehicle in any state. You may have to do this periodically to make sure that your car is road worthy and is not a liability on the road. The details can be found on your registration certificate and if you still need further details then you can go ahead and find your local DMV’s website and search from there.

In Dealing with Traffic Tickets

If and when you happen to land a traffic ticket some people are not really familiar of their options on how to go about dealing with it. Unfortunately if you happen to ignore this then you might actually lose their privilege to drive. Here are 4 options for you:

Pay the fine

Straight up you can go ahead and pay up the fine for the ticket. You still have options for this. You can pay it yourself by lining up in your local DMV office. Not everyone is really wild about this idea. You also have the option to actually go about mailing your payment in. You should be able to find the address where you can send in the payment at the back of the ticket. This last option though may not be available for all states; Online payment. If the state has this available for you then you can just go ahead and enter your account information and make the payment on your own online.

Attend Traffic School

This is going to be something that a lot of people really hate. Sad to say most (if not all) people only attend these things because of the court mandate. Some people are also into it to clean up the points in their license. You also have options for this. The most common of course would be the classroom setting usually held by a sanctioned driving school if not in your local DMV office. If you think that this is not an acceptable option for you then you may verify if there is an option for online or home based. Online and home based options should allow you to take on the modules in your own time.

Work for the correction

There are times when you can actually go ahead and have your violation or ticket corrected. The procedure for this would vary per state. Look into the ticket to know which county issued you the violation and get in touch with them. You can then verify if you can make corrections with the ticket. As you know ticket cannot be something to be taken lightly because point accumulation can lead to suspension of your license.

Request for a hearing

This is basically the one way to dispute the ticket you got. If you believe that you are not guilty then you can request for a hearing so you can have the chance to really have it disputed. If you cannot have it corrected and if you believe that you do not deserve such ticket then you can request for the hearing. You would have to be careful though because this can prolong the suspension of your license in case yours got suspended.

There are a lot of ways to deal with traffic violations. You can read more about them through this website: http://www.dmv.com/or/oregon/traffic-tickets.
